How Trash Gets Into Creeks

In November, we attended the Clean Marin Trash Summit, an event that brought anti-litter advocates together. We heard from Keynote Speaker David Lewis, Executive Director of Save the Bay and talked about ways we can collectively reduce trash in our communities.

One of the takeaways from the event was the illustration below of the many ways trash ends up in our creeks and watersheds. Produced by Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program (SCVURPPP), an association of fifteen government agencies in Santa Clara Valley. Their Watershed Watch Campaign is a public education initiative dedicated to raising awareness about protecting watersheds and preventing storm water pollution. Their website provides free resources and easy everyday ways to prevent pollution in your neighborhood, our local creeks and the Bay.
